This is a working overview of 生长激素促分泌剂, written for readers who want more than a one-paragraph summary but less than a textbook.
This page was last updated on 2026-07-26 and is reviewed periodically as new material appears.
Activity is mediated mainly through the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, now generally called the ghrelin receptor or GHS-R1a. Binding at this G-protein-coupled receptor triggers phospholipase C signaling, calcium mobilization, and release of growth hormone from pituitary somatotrophs. Reports describe less pronounced stimulation of adrenocorticotropic hormone and prolactin compared with earlier secretagogues such as hexarelin or GHRP-6. Selectivity figures vary between assay systems, so the degree of separation from other secretagogues is an area of ongoing comparison rather than a fixed constant.
In animal and early human studies, ipamorelin produces pulsatile growth hormone release and a secondary rise in insulin-like growth factor 1. The magnitude and duration of that rise depend on route, sampling schedule, and the baseline endocrine state of the subject. Whether repeated exposure alters the response over time is not firmly settled, since some reports describe stable pulsatility while others note attenuation. Most published data come from small samples, which limits the strength of any general claim about long-term behavior.

Verification of identity and purity relies on analytical methods used across peptide chemistry. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates components by hydrophobicity and provides a purity estimate. Mass spectrometry confirms molecular mass and helps detect modifications. Together these techniques give complementary information about whether a sample matches its expected structure. Results depend on method parameters and reference standards, so reported purity values are meaningful only when the analytical conditions are stated. Consistency between laboratories requires comparable protocols and well-characterized reference materials.
Peptides such as ipamorelin are subject to chemical and physical degradation. Hydrolysis of peptide bonds, oxidation of susceptible residues, and aggregation are common pathways that reduce purity over time. The rate of these processes depends on temperature, moisture, pH, and the number of freeze-thaw cycles a sample undergoes. Because the compound is typically handled as a lyophilized powder, controlling moisture during storage is a central concern. Degradation products can be detected with separation techniques that resolve the parent peptide from related impurities.
Published animal and early human work describes growth hormone release that is separated from comparable rises in adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol. Prolactin changes are reported as small in the same studies. Selectivity is attributed to binding at the ghrelin receptor and to the downstream signaling that follows, rather than to differences in how quickly the peptide is cleared. Authors commonly label the compound selective rather than potent, because the same mass produces a smaller growth hormone response than some older secretagogues tested in parallel. Whether that profile holds across species and routes of administration remains an open question.
Human data remain limited and come mainly from small, short-term studies conducted decades ago. The peptide has not received approval as a medicine from major regulators, so current availability is largely as a research chemical. Reported effects on growth hormone pulsatility, appetite, and body composition should be read as preliminary, since few independent groups have replicated the original findings. Analytical characterization of research-grade material varies between suppliers, which complicates comparison across studies. Regulatory status also differs by country, and some jurisdictions classify it as a prescription-only or otherwise restricted item.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that belongs to the growth hormone secretagogue class. It acts as an agonist at the ghrelin receptor, also called the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a. The compound was designed in the 1990s during a search for agents that release growth hormone with fewer off-target hormonal effects than earlier secretagogues. It appears in the research literature under several sequence-based names. Material supplied for laboratory work is normally a lyophilized solid, and it is not marketed as an approved therapeutic in major jurisdictions.
Quality control for research-grade ipamorelin is not governed by a single harmonized pharmacopeial monograph, so certificates of analysis vary between suppliers. Common tests include appearance, solubility, water content, peptide content by quantitative amino acid analysis, and residual counterion measurement. Independent verification by an outside laboratory is often used to confirm identity and purity claims. Salt form, counterion content, and residual solvent levels are frequently unspecified, which complicates direct comparison between lots and leaves reproducibility partly unresolved.
Identity and purity assessment of ipamorelin relies mainly on reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection near 214 nanometers, a wavelength where the peptide backbone absorbs. Mass confirmation is typically obtained by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry or by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, comparing the observed mass with the calculated value. Amino acid analysis and peptide mapping after enzymatic digestion can confirm the sequence. Impurity profiles include deletion peptides, truncated fragments, and oxidation products, reported as relative area percentages.
They developed technologies for boat building, allowing for extensive travel and trade, as well as, elaborate tools utilizing lithics, drift wood, and animal resources for fishing and the hunting of sea mammals. Aleutian craftsmanship in basketry and weaving using rye beach grass is also particularly noted.
=== September 2003 === Corporal Donald Payne of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment now the 1st Battalion, Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border), became Britain's first convicted war criminal after pleading guilty to abusing Iraqi detainees, which resulted in the death of one detainee Baha Mousa.
Juice is a drink made from the extraction or pressing of the natural liquid contained in fruit and vegetables. It can also refer to liquids that are flavored with concentrate or other biological food sources like meat or seafood, such as clam juice. Juice is commonly consumed as a beverage or used as an ingredient or flavoring in foods or other beverages, such as smoothies. Juice emerged as a popular beverage choice after the development of pasteurization methods enabled its preservation without using fermentation (which is used in wine production). The largest fruit juice consumers are New Zealand (nearly a cup, or 8 ounces, each day) and Colombia (more than three quarters of a cup each day). Fruit juice consumption on average increases with a country's income level.
=== Composer === In addition to being a singer-songwriter, Sheik had also composed music for plays, musicals, and movie soundtracks. He composed original music for the 2002 New York Shakespeare Festival production of Twelfth Night. In 2004, he composed the score for the film A Home at the End of the World. The AllMusic reviewer wrote: "...takes the sensitivity and tension of the film's plot and crafts incidental music and new songs that complement the movie well." He also composed the score for the 2005 film Through the Fire with Pete Miser. Sheik wrote the music for Spring Awakening (2006) in collaboration with Steven Sater. Written over a period of eight years, the musical, which premiered off-Broadway during the summer, opened on Broadway to critical acclaim later in the fall. The musical was based on the controversial German expressionist play The Awakening of Spring, written by Frank Wedekind. Sheik won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for his work on Spring Awakening, and he and Sater won a Tony Award for Best Original Score. In addition, Spring Awakening won the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The guitar that Sheik used to compose songs for Spring Awakening was displayed at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. As of 2012, Sheik was composing music for a feature-film adaptation of Spring Awakening, an adaptation almost a decade in the making. In 2012, Sheik wrote Alice By Heart, an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, along with collaborator Sater.
== Use in horticulture == Synthetic plant hormones or PGRs are used in a number of different techniques involving plant propagation from cuttings, grafting, micropropagation and tissue culture. Most commonly they are commercially available as "rooting hormone powder". The propagation of plants by cuttings of fully developed leaves, stems, or roots is performed by gardeners utilizing auxin as a rooting compound applied to the cut surface; the auxins are taken into the plant and promote root initiation. In grafting, auxin promotes callus tissue formation, which joins the surfaces of the graft together. In micropropagation, different PGRs are used to promote multiplication and then rooting of new plantlets. In the tissue-culturing of plant cells, PGRs are used to produce callus growth, multiplication, and rooting.

The magnocellular cells in the PVN elaborate and secrete two peptide hormones: oxytocin and vasopressin. These hormones are packaged into large vesicles, which are then transported down the unmyelinated axons of the cells and released from neurosecretory nerve terminals residing in the posterior pituitary gland. Similar magnocellular neurons are found in the supraoptic nucleus which also secrete vasopressin and oxytocin.
When naming a complex ion, the ligands are named before the metal ion. The ligands' names are given in alphabetical order. Numerical prefixes do not affect the order. Multiple occurring monodentate ligands receive a prefix according to the number of occurrences: di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, or hexa-. Multiple occurring polydentate ligands (e.g., ethylenediamine, oxalate) receive bis-, tris-, tetrakis-, etc. Anions end in o. This replaces the final 'e' when the anion ends with '-ide', '-ate' or '-ite', e.g. chloride becomes chlorido and sulfate becomes sulfato. Formerly, '-ide' was changed to '-o' (e.g. chloro and cyano), but this rule has been modified in the 2005 IUPAC recommendations and the correct forms for these ligands are now chlorido and cyanido. Neutral ligands are given their usual name, with some exceptions: NH3 becomes ammine; H2O becomes aqua or aquo; CO becomes carbonyl; NO becomes nitrosyl. Write the name of the central atom/ion. If the complex is an anion, the central atom's name will end in -ate, and its Latin name will be used if available (except for mercury). The oxidation state of the central atom is to be specified (when it is one of several possible, or zero), and should be written as a Roman numeral (or 0) enclosed in parentheses. Name of the cation should be preceded by the name of anion. (if applicable, as in last example) Examples:
Cefodizime is a 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad spectrum activity against aerobic gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Clinically, it has been shown to be effective against upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea. Cefodizime is a bactericidal antibiotic that targets penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) 1A/B, 2, and 3 resulting in the eventual death of the bacterial cell. In vivo experimental models of infection showed that bacterial clearance by this drug is at least as effective compared with other 3rd generation cephalosporins. It has similar adverse effect profile to other 3rd generation cephalosporins as well, mainly being limited to gastrointestinal or dermatological side effects. It is not currently approved by the FDA for use in the United States.
=== Medical applications === 90Sr finds extensive use in medicine as a radioactive source for superficial radiotherapy of some cancers. Controlled amounts of 90Sr or of 89Sr can be used in treatment of bone cancer, and to treat coronary restenosis via vascular brachytherapy. It is also used as a radioactive tracer in medicine and agriculture.
The hazards of synthetic biology include biosafety hazards to workers and the public, biosecurity hazards stemming from deliberate engineering of organisms to cause harm, and environmental hazards. The biosafety hazards are similar to those for existing fields of biotechnology, mainly exposure to pathogens and toxic chemicals, although novel synthetic organisms may have novel risks. For biosecurity, there is concern that synthetic or redesigned organisms could theoretically be used for bioterrorism. Potential risks include recreating known pathogens from scratch, engineering existing pathogens to be more dangerous, and engineering microbes to produce harmful biochemicals. Lastly, environmental hazards include adverse effects on biodiversity and ecosystem services, including potential changes to land use resulting from agricultural use of synthetic organisms. Synthetic biology is an example of a dual-use technology with the potential to be used in ways that could intentionally or unintentionally harm humans and/or damage the environment. Often "scientists, their host institutions and funding bodies" consider whether the planned research could be misused and sometimes implement measures to reduce the likelihood of misuse. Existing risk analysis systems for GMOs are generally considered sufficient for synthetic organisms, although there may be difficulties for an organism built "bottom-up" from individual genetic sequences.

Senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) is a phenotype associated with senescent cells wherein those cells secrete high levels of inflammatory cytokines, immune modulators, growth factors, and proteases. SASP may also consist of exosomes and ectosomes containing enzymes, microRNA, DNA fragments, chemokines, and other bioactive factors. Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator surface receptor is part of SASP, and has been used to identify senescent cells for senolytic therapy. Initially, SASP is immunosuppressive (characterized by TGF-β1 and TGF-β3) and profibrotic, but progresses to become proinflammatory (characterized by IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8) and fibrolytic. SASP is the primary cause of the detrimental effects of senescent cells. SASP is heterogenous, with the exact composition dependent upon the senescent-cell inducer and the cell type. Interleukin 12 (IL-12) and Interleukin 10 (IL-10) are increased more than 200-fold in replicative senescence in contrast to stress-induced senescence or proteosome-inhibited senescence where the increases are about 30-fold or less. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is increased 32-fold in stress-induced senescence, 8-fold in replicative senescence, and only slightly in proteosome-inhibited senescence. Interleukin 6 (IL-6) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) are the most conserved and robust features of SASP. But some SASP components are anti-inflammatory. Senescence and SASP can also occur in post-mitotic cells, notably neurons.
== Presentation == The most characteristic symptom of acrogeria is thin, atrophic skin with mottled pigmentation and telangiectasia, most severe in the limbs and extremities. This is accompanied by easy bruising, hyperkeratosis, and a loss of subcutaneous fat, which is replaced by connective tissue. Patients have a facies with a pinched face, hollow cheeks, prominent eyes without exophthalmos, a beak-like nose and thin lips. Though the hair and nails are normal in many cases, alopecia and nail dystrophies, such as onychogryphosis and koilonychia, have been reported. Stature is short in some patients and normal in others. The general skeletal structure is unremarkable, but acrogeria results in delayed closure of the cranial sutures, notching of the mandible, and micrognathia; and may also coincide with spina bifida, clubfoot and congenital dislocation of the hips. Sexual development, including the development of secondary sex characteristics, is normal, and so is intelligence. There is no correlation of acrogeria with metabolic, opthamological or cardiovascular disorders, and patients have a normal life expectancy. Similarities between the clinical features of acrogeria and Werner's syndrome have been observed.

It is a synthetic pentapeptide in the growth hormone secretagogue family and acts as an agonist at the ghrelin receptor. It is handled as a laboratory research compound rather than a naturally occurring hormone.
Studies generally report growth hormone as the dominant output, with smaller or absent effects on adrenocorticotropic hormone and prolactin. The size of that separation depends on the assay and the dose examined, so it is best described as relative selectivity.
No natural source has been identified, and the molecule is produced by chemical synthesis. Its non-natural residues distinguish it from endogenous ghrelin even though both engage the same receptor.
