GHS-R1a raises a handful of sensible questions. This page answers them in order, starting with the fundamentals and moving to applications.

Long-term storage of the dry powder is typically at minus twenty degrees Celsius or lower, protected from light and moisture. Solutions are commonly kept frozen and thawed only once, because repeated freeze-thaw cycles can promote aggregation and loss of measurable peptide content. Buffers near neutral pH are preferred over strongly acidic or strongly basic conditions. Shipping at ambient temperature is acceptable for short periods when the powder remains sealed and desiccated.
Identity and purity are assessed by complementary methods rather than a single test. Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates the peptide from related impurities and reports a percentage purity. Mass spectrometry, most often with electrospray ionization, confirms the expected molecular mass and detects sequence-related variants. Amino acid analysis can verify composition, while water content and residual counterion measurements support the mass balance of a batch. Stability studies under accelerated conditions are used to estimate shelf life, though such estimates carry uncertainty for long-term storage.
Selectivity is the property most often attached to this peptide. Published animal and early human studies record increases in growth hormone release after administration, with adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol responses remaining small by comparison. Effects on appetite-related pathways also appear weaker than those reported for several earlier secretagogues. Reviews that compare members of the growth hormone secretagogue family cite these findings frequently, though the receptor-level explanation for the selectivity continues to be debated rather than settled.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide classified as a growth hormone secretagogue. Its sequence, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, combines three non-proteinogenic residues with a C-terminal amide. The N-terminal aminoisobutyric acid unit and the two aromatic D-amino acids distinguish it from peptides assembled only from standard L-amino acids. Its formula is C38H49N9O5, corresponding to an average mass near 711.9 Da. At neutral pH the molecule carries a net positive charge, a property that shapes its behaviour in chromatographic and electrophoretic systems.
The compound was developed at Novo Nordisk during the 1990s as part of a programme seeking secretagogues with improved selectivity. It was described in the peer-reviewed literature in 1998 alongside related pentapeptides from the same series. Investigators advanced it because it raised growth hormone output in animal models while leaving other pituitary hormones comparatively unaffected. The development code NNC 26-0161 appears in earlier reports, and ipamorelin later became the common designation in published work.

Compared with older secretagogues such as hexarelin or GHRP-6, ipamorelin shows weaker stimulation of cortisol, prolactin, and appetite in the animal models used for early characterization. Whether that selectivity is preserved across longer human exposures remains an open question, because published clinical data are limited in size and duration. Reported effects on food intake are generally described as modest. The compound is therefore treated in the literature as a relatively selective research tool rather than a fully characterized therapeutic agent.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that belongs to the growth hormone secretagogue class of compounds. Researchers at a pharmaceutical company first described it in the 1990s while screening small peptides for growth hormone releasing activity. Its chain contains five amino acid residues, two of which are non-natural building blocks, including 2-aminoisobutyric acid and a naphthylalanine derivative. The molecule was designed to act at the ghrelin receptor while avoiding several effects observed with earlier secretagogues.
Compared with other secretagogues such as GHRP-2, GHRP-6, and hexarelin, ipamorelin is described as more selective. Published animal work reports little or no increase in adrenocorticotropic hormone, cortisol, or prolactin at doses that release growth hormone. This selectivity is the property most often cited in the research literature. Whether the same profile holds across species and dosing schedules remains an open question, since human data are limited and come largely from small studies.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that belongs to the growth hormone secretagogue family. Its sequence is Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, and its molecular mass is approximately 711.9 daltons. The compound was described in the late 1990s by researchers seeking molecules that release growth hormone with fewer side effects than earlier secretagogues. It is a laboratory and research compound, not an approved medicine in most jurisdictions.
At the molecular level, ipamorelin acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, also called the ghrelin receptor or GHS-R1a. Binding to this receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells triggers a signaling cascade that leads to growth hormone release. The effect is mediated through phospholipase C and calcium mobilization rather than through the cyclic AMP pathway used by growth hormone releasing hormone. The two pathways are complementary, and combined stimulation produces a larger response than either alone.
Plants produce chemicals at the injury site that signal the presence of damage and may help to reduce further damage. The chemicals involved depend to some extent on the plant species, though several of them are shared among species; and the signals given depend on the cause of the injury. Plants injured by spider mites release volatile chemicals that attract predatory mites, serving to reduce the attack on the plants. As another example, maize plants damaged by the caterpillars of noctuid moths release a mixture of terpenoid substances which attract the parasitoid wasp Cotesia marginiventris, which kills caterpillars. Many plants give off such herbivory-induced signals.
=== Production === Production of nitro cold brew coffee begins with the making of cold brew coffee. Once the grounds are adequately steeped, the coffee is poured into a room-temperature bottle or keg. As the cold brew is poured into a cup, it is charged with nitrogen to give it a rich, creamy head of foam, similar to draft beer. (Though most beers and soft drinks are charged with carbon dioxide, nitrogen is occasionally used in darker stouts, resulting in a smoother finish.) Nitro cold brew is typically served chilled but without ice, which would damage the foamy top.
=== Tofu-like foods === The term tofu is used by extension for similarly textured curdled dishes that do not use soy products, such as "almond tofu" (almond jelly), tamago-dōfu (egg), goma-dōfu (sesame), or peanut tofu (Chinese 落花生豆腐 luòhuāshēng dòufu and Okinawan jīmāmi-dōfu). Due to their East Asian origins and their textures, many food items are called "tofu", even though their production processes are not technically similar. For instance, many sweet almond tofus are actually gelatinous desserts hardened using agar or gelatin. Some foods, such as Burmese tofu, are not coagulated from the "milk" of the legume but rather set in a manner similar to soft polenta, Korean muk, or the jidou liangfen of Yunnan province of southwest China.
Battle of Hébuterne — French attacks on the southern flanks became disorganized, with one German patrol able to take 100 French prisoners. U.S. President Woodrow Wilson sent Germany the second of three letters related to the sinking of the RMS Lusitania in May, rejecting Germany's argument the British blockade was illegal and that the Lusitania was carrying munitions. United States Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan resigned over disagreement regarding his nation's handling of the RMS Lusitania sinking. Second Battle of Garua — After nearly 10 days of siege from British and French forces, close to half of the native colonial troops under German command in forts around Garua, German Cameroon began to mutiny or desert their posts. British colonial force cracked down on rioters in Ceylon, resulting in 116 dead. British cruiser HMS Dublin was torpedoed and damaged in the Adriatic Sea off Albania by Austro-Hungarian submarine SM U-4 with the loss of 12 of her 440 crew. HMS Dublin was subsequently repaired and returned to service. The Georgia Prison Commission denied an application to commute the death sentence of Leo Frank in a 2–1 vote, who was convinced in 1913 for the murder of 13-year old Mary Phagan. British naval forces occupied the island of Kamaran in the Red Sea off the coast what is now Yemen. The French Army established the Marine Infantry Tank Regiment. === Purpose in life === Purpose in life refers broadly to the pursuit of life satisfaction. It has also been found that those with high purpose in life scores have strong goals and sense of direction. They feel there is meaning to their past and present life, and hold beliefs that continue to give their life purpose. Research in the past has focused on purpose in the face of adversity (what is awful, difficult, or absurd in life). Recently, research has shifted to include a focus on the role of purpose in personal fulfillment and self-actualization. The self-control approach, as expounded by C. R. Snyder, focusses on exercising self-control to achieve self-esteem by fulfilling goals and feeling in control of our own success. This is further reinforced by a sense of intentionality in both efforts and outcomes. The intrinsic motivation approach of Viktor Frankl emphasized finding value in three main areas: creative, experiential, and attitudinal. Creative values are expressed in acts of creating or producing something. Experiential values are actualized through the senses, and may overlap the hedonistic view of happiness. Attitudinal values are prominent for individuals who are unable to pursue the preceding two classes of values. Attitudinal values are believed to be primarily responsible for allowing individuals to endure suffering with dignity.

The success of the Half-Life series has spurred the creation of several spin-off games for Half-Life 2. Codename Gordon (sometimes called Codename: Gordon) is a two-dimensional Flash sidescroller shooter developed by NuclearVision, and was released over Valve's Steam online delivery system on May 18, 2004, as a promotional game for the then-upcoming Half-Life 2. Characters from Half-Life have appeared in other games. Peggle Extreme, a special edition of Peggle bundled with the PC version of The Orange Box features levels based on Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal. The headcrab is also an unlockable character in Super Meat Boy when bought on Steam. The Headcrab also appeared in an April Fools event in the MMO Vindictus as an event item along with the Crowbar, possibly due to the game being created on the Source Engine as well. In the game Magicka there is a playable character (after the addition of a DLC), which closely resembles the original zombie from the Half-Life universe, equipped with a crowbar. Gordon also appears in Renegade Ops and the headcrab is available as a pet in Torchlight 2. Half-Life has also inspired a number of fan-made mods, some which have gained recognition on their own. Garry's Mod started as a sandbox mode using Half-Life 2 assets but since has become a commercial product and given users the ability to incorporate other assets. Among notable fan-made campaigns is Minerva, which was designed to extend the story from Half-Life 2.
Also in 1934, scientists Ernest Rutherford, Mark Oliphant, and Paul Harteck, produced the radioisotope tritium (hydrogen-3, 3H) by hitting deuterium with high-energy nuclei. The deuterium used in the experiment was a generous gift of heavy water from UC Berkeley physicist Gilbert N. Lewis. Bombarding deuterium produced two previously undetected isotopes, helium-3 (3He) and 3H. Rutherford and his colleagues successfully created 3H, but incorrectly assumed that 3He was the radioactive component. The work of Luis Walter Alvarez and Robert Cornog first isolated 3H and reversed Rutherford's incorrect notion. Alvarez reasoned that tritium was radioactive, but did not measure the half-life, though calculations at the time suggested >10 years. At the end of World War II, physical chemist Willard Libby detected the residual radioactivity of a tritium sample with a Geiger counter, providing a more accurate understanding of the half-life, now accepted as 12.3 years.
It was thus becoming increasingly evident that the alternative of "democratic rupture" accompanied by "decisive national action" was not viable, so its main supporter, the Communist Party of Spain, decided in March 1976 to change strategy and adopt the alternative of "agreed democratic rupture" advocated by the moderate opposition and the PSOE ─ which had formed the Democratic Convergence Platform ─ although without abandoning the mobilization of citizens to exert continuous pressure on the government and force it to negotiate with the opposition. The change of strategy of the PCE, allowed the merger on March 26 of the two unitary organizations of the opposition, the Junta Democrática and the Plataforma de Convergencia Democrática, which led to the creation of Coordinación Democrática ─ popularly known as Platajunta. In its first manifesto, it rejected the "Arias-Fraga reform" and demanded an immediate political amnesty, full trade union freedom and a "rupture or democratic alternative through the opening of a constituent period". Thus, from the first scenario of rupture with popular uprising, the demand for the calling of general elections from which a constituent process could be derived. Shortly after the Platajunta was formed the government tolerated the socialist trade union Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) to hold inside the country its XXX Congress camouflaged under the term Jornadas de Estudio (Study Days), but at the same time the police arrested the leader of CC OO, Marcelino Camacho.
The Rho family of GTPases is a family of small (~21 kDa) signaling G proteins, and is a subfamily of the Ras superfamily. The members of the Rho GTPase family have been shown to regulate many aspects of intracellular actin dynamics, and are found in all eukaryotic kingdoms, including yeasts and some plants. Three members of the family have been studied in detail: Cdc42, Rac1, and RhoA. All G proteins are "molecular switches", and Rho proteins play a role in organelle development, cytoskeletal dynamics, cell movement, and other common cellular functions.

=== International rail transport resumption === In January 2022, the first freight trains between North Korea and China resumed after a two-year hold. Uiju Air Base was converted to a cargo decontamination facility for containers brought in by freight trains. A South Korean–based humanitarian organisation, the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Research Center (남북경제협력연구소, IKECRC), received a UN sanctions exemption to send 20 thermal imaging cameras to North Phyongan province for detection of fever symptoms, while the WHO was granted 18 more months to deliver shipments for stalled projects. In November 2022, use of the rail Korea–Russia Friendship Bridge resumed.
As the solidification rate slows down, however, the area fraction of the particle-rich phase drops indicating an increase in packing efficiency. At the same time, the competitive growth process is taking place, replacing r-crystals with z-crystals. At a certain point nearing the end of the transition zone, the particle-rich phase fraction rises sharply since z-crystals are less efficient at packing particles than r-crystals. The apex of this curve marks the point where only z-crystals are present (SSZ). During steady-state growth, after the maximum particle-rich phase fraction is reached, the efficiency of packing increases as steady-state is achieved. In 2011, researchers at Yale University set out to probe the actual spatial packing of particles within the walls. Using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) they characterized the particle size, shape and interparticle spacing of nominally 32 nm silica suspensions that had been freeze-cast at different speeds. Computer simulations indicated that for this system, the particles within the walls should not be touching but rather separated from one another by thin films of ice. Testing, however, revealed that the particles were, in fact, touching and more than that, they attained a packed morphology that cannot be explained by typical equilibrium densification processes.
=== Youth === The top three riders in the final results of each World Tour event's young rider classification received points towards the standings. Six points were awarded to first place, four points to second place and two points to third place.
ubiquitination Also ubiquitylation. The labelling of a biomolecule (often another protein) by covalently attaching a ubiquitin protein to it—generally via the formation of an amide bond between the ubiquitin's C-terminal glycine and positively charged side chains (often lysine or arginine residues) of the labelled molecule, an ATP-dependent reaction catalyzed by ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes—thus making it identifiable to molecules capable of recognizing ubiquitin epitopes. Ubiquitination is a widely used post-translational modification by which proteins are tagged; the attachment of a single ubiquitin molecule (monoubiquitination) can variously activate or inhibit a protein's activity, while the attachment of a chain of multiple consecutively linked ubiquitin molecules (polyubiquitination) commonly targets the protein for degradation by proteasomes.
With the development of high-efficiency and high-power LEDs, it has become possible to use LEDs in lighting and illumination. To encourage the shift to LED lamps and other high-efficiency lighting, in 2008 the US Department of Energy created the L Prize competition. The Philips Lighting North America LED bulb won the first competition on August 3, 2011, after successfully completing 18 months of intensive field, lab, and product testing. Efficient lighting is needed for sustainable architecture. As of 2011, some LED bulbs provide up to 150 lm/W and even inexpensive low-end models typically exceed 50 lm/W, so that a 6-watt LED could achieve the same results as a standard 40-watt incandescent bulb. The lower heat output of LEDs also reduces demand on air conditioning systems. Worldwide, LEDs are rapidly adopted to displace less effective sources such as incandescent lamps and CFLs and reduce electrical energy consumption and its associated emissions. Solar powered LEDs are used as street lights and in architectural lighting. The mechanical robustness and long lifetime are used in automotive lighting on cars, motorcycles, and bicycle lights. LED street lights are employed on poles and in parking garages. In 2007, the Italian village of Torraca was the first place to convert its street lighting to LEDs. Cabin lighting on recent Airbus and Boeing jetliners uses LED lighting. LEDs are also being used in airport and heliport lighting.

Each cycle can cause aggregation and adsorption losses that lower measured peptide content. Dividing a solution into single-use aliquots reduces this risk.
Reversed-phase chromatography reports purity, while mass spectrometry confirms identity through molecular mass. Amino acid analysis adds composition data.
It is a synthetic five-amino-acid peptide that acts as a growth hormone secretagogue. Three of its residues are non-standard amino acids, and the chain ends in an amide rather than a free acid. The molecule is small enough that it can be characterised by routine peptide analytical techniques.
