Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide classified as a growth hormone secretagogue. Its sequence, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, combines three non-proteinogenic residues with a C-terminal amide. The N-terminal aminoisobutyric acid unit and the two aromatic D-amino acids distinguish it from peptides assembled only from standard L-amino acids. Its formula is C38H49N9O5, corresponding to an average mass near 711.9 Da. At neutral pH the molecule carries a net positive charge, a property that shapes its behaviour in chromatographic and electrophoretic systems.
The compound was developed at Novo Nordisk during the 1990s as part of a programme seeking secretagogues with improved selectivity. It was described in the peer-reviewed literature in 1998 alongside related pentapeptides from the same series. Investigators advanced it because it raised growth hormone output in animal models while leaving other pituitary hormones comparatively unaffected. The development code NNC 26-0161 appears in earlier reports, and ipamorelin later became the common designation in published work.

Published animal and early human work describes growth hormone release that is separated from comparable rises in adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol. Prolactin changes are reported as small in the same studies. Selectivity is attributed to binding at the ghrelin receptor and to the downstream signaling that follows, rather than to differences in how quickly the peptide is cleared. Authors commonly label the compound selective rather than potent, because the same mass produces a smaller growth hormone response than some older secretagogues tested in parallel. Whether that profile holds across species and routes of administration remains an open question.
Human data remain limited and come mainly from small, short-term studies conducted decades ago. The peptide has not received approval as a medicine from major regulators, so current availability is largely as a research chemical. Reported effects on growth hormone pulsatility, appetite, and body composition should be read as preliminary, since few independent groups have replicated the original findings. Analytical characterization of research-grade material varies between suppliers, which complicates comparison across studies. Regulatory status also differs by country, and some jurisdictions classify it as a prescription-only or otherwise restricted item.
Compared with earlier growth hormone secretagogues such as GHRP-6 and hexarelin, ipamorelin has been reported to produce less stimulation of adrenocorticotropic hormone, cortisol, and prolactin in animal and early human studies. This selectivity is usually attributed to differences in receptor subtype interactions and to the tissue distribution of the receptor. Effects on appetite appear weaker than those of ghrelin itself, although the supporting evidence base is small. Whether these differences produce a distinct clinical profile remains an open question, since controlled human trials are limited.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide first described in the 1990s by researchers at Novo Nordisk during a program to develop selective growth hormone secretagogues. Its sequence is Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, incorporating two non-natural residues, alpha-aminoisobutyric acid and D-2-naphthylalanine. The C-terminus is amidated, and the material is supplied as a white lyophilized powder. The molecular formula is C38H49N9O5 and the monoisotopic mass is approximately 711.85 daltons. The short chain and modified residues give it greater resistance to enzymatic degradation than many larger peptide hormones.
At the molecular level, ipamorelin acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a, the same G protein-coupled receptor that binds ghrelin. Receptor activation couples to Gq/11 signaling, raising intracellular calcium through inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol, which in turn promotes exocytosis of growth hormone from pituitary somatotroph cells. Ipamorelin binds this receptor with high affinity and shows weak activity at other secretagogue-related targets in vitro. Its action requires the intact receptor and is not reversed by growth hormone-releasing hormone antagonists.
6 July – One child dies, while 16 are injured after a Land Rover hits a primary school in Wimbledon, south-west London. The crash is not treated as terror-related, but the driver is arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The UK Health Security Agency and Met Office issue a yellow heat health alert for six regions of England, effective from 12pm on 7 July to 9am on 9 July, when temperatures are expected to reach 28 °C–30 °C in some areas. RMT workers on the London Underground announce six days of strikes from Sunday 23 July to Friday 28 July. 7 July – British cinema chain Empire Cinemas collapses into administration with the immediate loss of 150 jobs, citing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis as the main reasons. The closures leave Sunderland and Wigan with no main cinema. 8 July – The Union Chain Bridge, which spans the River Tweed, linking England and Scotland, is named as an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. 9 July – A second child dies of injuries sustained in the crash at a school in Wimbledon, south London. 10 July – A teenage boy is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teacher is stabbed at Tewkesbury School in Gloucestershire. The school, along with neighbouring schools, are locked down during the incident. The teacher is hospitalised. He is charged with attempted wounding with intent and possession of bladed article the next day.
=== Indirect separation of enantiomer === Indirect enantiomer separation involves the interaction between the chiral analyte (CA) of interest and the suitable reactive CS (in this case it is an enantiopure chiral derivatizing agent, CDA) leading to the formation of a covalent diastereomeric complex that can be separated with an achiral chromatographic technique. Therapeutic agents often contain reactive functional groups (amino, hydroxyl, epoxy, carbonyl and carboxylic acid, etc.) in their structures. They are converted into covalently bonded diastereomeric derivatives using enantiomerically pure chiral derivatizing agent. The diastereomers thus formed unlike enantiomers, exhibit different physicochemical properties in an achiral environment and are eventually separated as a result of differential retention time on a stationary phase. The success of this approach depends on the availability of stable enantiopure chiral derivatizing agent (CDA) and on the presence of a suitable reactive functional group in the chiral drug molecule for covalent formation of diastereomeric derivative. The reaction of a racemic, (R,S)- Drug with a chirally and chemically pure chiral derivatizing agent, (R')-CDA, will afford diastereomeric products, (R)-Drug-(R')-CDA + (S)-Drug-(R')- CDA. The chiral derivatization reaction scheme is illustrated in the box on the right hand side. In contrast to enantiomers, diastereomers have different physicochemical properties that make them separable on regular achiral stationary phases.
In particular, more distant atoms within corresponding features are exponentially downweighted to reduce the effects of noise introduced by loop mobility, helix torsions, and other minor structural variations. Because DALI relies on an all-to-all distance matrix, it can account for the possibility that structurally aligned features might appear in different orders within the two sequences being compared. The DALI method has also been used to construct a database known as FSSP (Fold classification based on Structure-Structure alignment of Proteins, or Families of Structurally Similar Proteins) in which all known protein structures are aligned with each other to determine their structural neighbors and fold classification. There is a searchable database based on DALI as well as a downloadable program and web search based on a standalone version known as DaliLite.

Emus are around all the time, in green times and dry times. You pluck the feathers out first, then pull out the crop from the stomach, and put in the feathers you've pulled out, and then singe it on the fire. You wrap the milk guts that you've pulled out into something [such as] gum leaves and cook them. When you've got the fat off, you cut the meat up and cook it on fire made from river red gum wood.
== Storage and stability == The cold chain is a major consideration in vaccination, particularly in less-developed countries. Mumps vaccines are normally refrigerated, but have a long half-life of 65 days at 23 degrees Celsius.
In 1998 the BPL began sourcing its plasma from the United States due to concerns over vCJD in the UK. In 2002 the Department of Health (DoH) formed DCI Biologicals Inc to purchase US company Life Resources Inc to supply all of the BPL's plasma. BPL became an operating division within new special health authority, NHS Blood and Transplant, in 2005. This placed BPL alongside the National Blood Service and the organ transplant division, a strategic partnership to safeguard blood, tissues and blood products. On 31 December 2010 the BPL was vested into a limited company, Bio Products Laboratory Ltd, and ownership transferred to the DoH, with BPL Ltd and DCI Biologicals Inc brought under the same DoH holding company, Plasma Resources UK Ltd. On 18 July 2013 it was announced by Business Secretary Vince Cable that Bain Capital had bought 80% of Plasma Resources UK (PRUK) from the DoH for £230m, which included both BPL and DCI Biologicals. The company was subsequently renamed BPL Holdings, with the original BPL site now called BPL Therapeutics and DCI named BPL Plasma. In 2018, when it was the sole owner, the Chinese group Creat had announced that it planned to integrate BPL's operations with German plasma product manufacturer Biotest. In 2022, Creat was required to dispose of its U.S. plasma centers which necessitated a sale of BPL as a whole. The sale was made to Kedrion BioPharma and BPL became a subsidiary of the Kedrion Group.
Onset of type 2 diabetes can be delayed or prevented through proper nutrition and regular exercise. Intensive lifestyle measures may reduce the risk by over half. The benefit of exercise occurs regardless of the person's initial weight or subsequent weight loss. High levels of physical activity reduce the risk of diabetes by about 28%. Evidence for the benefit of dietary changes alone, however, is limited, with some evidence for a diet high in green leafy vegetables and some for limiting the intake of sugary drinks. There is an association between higher intake of sugar-sweetened fruit juice and diabetes, but no evidence of an association with 100% fruit juice. A 2019 review found evidence of benefit from dietary fiber. A 2017 review found that, long term, lifestyle changes decreased the risk by 28%, while medication does not reduce risk after withdrawal. While low vitamin D levels are associated with an increased risk of diabetes, correcting the levels by supplementing vitamin D3 does not improve that risk. In those with prediabetes, diet in combination with physical activity delays or reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a 2017 Cochrane review. In those with prediabetes, metformin may delay or reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to diet and exercise or a placebo intervention, but not compared to intensive diet and exercise, and there was not enough data on outcomes such as mortality and diabetic complications and health-related quality of life, according to a 2019 Cochrane review.

One of the most outspoken critics of some concepts of "molecular assemblers" was Professor Richard Smalley (1943–2005) who won the Nobel Prize for his contributions to the field of nanotechnology. Smalley believed that such assemblers were not physically possible and introduced scientific objections to them. His two principal technical objections were termed the "fat fingers problem" and the "sticky fingers problem". He believed these would exclude the possibility of "molecular assemblers" that worked by precision picking and placing of individual atoms. Drexler and coworkers responded to these two issues in a 2001 publication. Smalley also believed that Drexler's speculations about apocalyptic dangers of self-replicating machines that have been equated with "molecular assemblers" would threaten the public support for development of nanotechnology. To address the debate between Drexler and Smalley regarding molecular assemblers Chemical & Engineering News published a point-counterpoint consisting of an exchange of letters that addressed the issues.

It is a synthetic five-amino-acid peptide that acts as a growth hormone secretagogue. Three of its residues are non-standard amino acids, and the chain ends in an amide rather than a free acid. The molecule is small enough that it can be characterised by routine peptide analytical techniques.
It has not received marketing approval as a medicine in the United States or the European Union. Supplied material is generally described and handled as a research chemical. Regulatory treatment varies by jurisdiction, and some countries restrict growth hormone secretagogues under sports or medicines legislation.
Earlier secretagogues were associated with broader hormonal responses, including measurable changes in cortisol and prolactin. Reports on this peptide describe a narrower profile in which growth hormone release is the most prominent effect. The observation is influential because it shapes how the compound is compared with other members of the same receptor family.
